Mr. Shryock became the Director of Choirs at Marcos de Niza High School in 1992. He previously taught at Fees Middle School and Tempe High School in addition to teaching in South Dakota prior to his move to Arizona. Under his direction the MdN Choirs have won numerous awards performing throughout the country. Favorite performances include the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Carnegie Hall and Pearl Harbor. Mr. Shryock is an accomplished pianist and was a member of the group Phoenix Vocal Jazz for over 20 years. He is currently the President of the Arizona Choral Educators. Mr. Shryock has served previously on the Arizona Choral Educator’s board as Vice-President of All-State Jazz/Show choirs in addition to his 6 years as chair of the Arizona All-State Jazz Choir Festival. Mr. Shryock has served as mentor to many young educators and is a frequent adjudicator at festivals. Mr. Shryock graduated with a B.S.Ed. from Black Hills State University (1986) and earned the M.M. Choral Conducting from Arizona State University (1989). He has 2 sons attending Arizona State University and recently celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with his wife, Connie.
